Asparagus

In 2010 we planted 3000 crowns of Asparagus. The crop continues to grow and produce

more with each year,  keep us in mind for that first sign of spring when the asparagus defies the weather and begins to grow!

This year is bringing us many challenges, the asparagus is slow in coming we need some warm days.  We sure do hope that we will be able to harvest a nice crop soon.  What we have had, has been very tender and sweet…almost like sweet corn in flavor!  You can find our hand-picked spring Asparagus

at Dandelion Rose located on South Main Street in Le Sueur

Sasse Farms Sweet Corn

Brad selling in Le Sueur, Mn.

WE WILL BEGIN SELLING ON TUESDAY JULY 21.

Hope to see you!

We usually get to Le Sueur about 10 o’clock. The truck sale location is on the corner of Bridge and 2nd Street. Just look for our familar Sasse Farms sign.  We also sell in  Mankato at THE MANKATO FARMER’S MARKET on Madison Ave.  Tues. Thurs. and    Saturdays. we will be selling at the Farmers Market in Le Sueur, 8am.

Sasse Farms in Le Sueur Minnesota has been growing sweet corn for over 13 years.

What started as a project to keep the young boys out of mom’s hair, grew into a business

that has involved us all!   We pick our sweet corn fresh every morning while the dew and cool of the day is still upon us.  We taste test it before it hits the street or market (yes, we eat sweet corn for breakfast!)  insuring that we are confident about the tenderness and sweetness of the corn we are selling.

As with all farming aspects, stating when we will have our first taste of summer sweet corn all depends on the weather.  We hope to be selling in the first two weeks of July and selling for the following 6 weeks.  We will update this site with that information as the time gets closer.

We are into the 3rd week in May, we have some plantings in and a few more to go.  At least it seems that winter has left us!!   I believe the harvest will be later than it has been in past years, but who knows we may get some super weather and end up on schedule, Ahhh farming!!
